Lactitol monohydrate acts as a prebiotic, fermented by intestinal flora, promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria (such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium), inhibiting pathogenic bacteria, increasing volatile fatty acid production, and reducing ammonia levels.
