Ankaflavin, isolated from Monascus-Fermented red rice, is an orally active PPARĪ³ agonist. Ankaflavin exhibits selective cytotoxic effect and induces cell death through apoptosis on cancer cells. Ankaflavin has anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, antiatherosclerotic, and hypolipidemic effects[1][2].
