DNA/RNA Shield from Zymo Research is a DNA and RNA transport and stabilisation solution for nucleic acids in any biological sample. DNA/RNA Shield preserves the genetic integrity and expression profiles of samples at ambient temperatures and completely inactivates infectious agents (viruses, bacteria, fungi, & parasites). This unique DNA and RNA stabilisation solution also prevents degradation from freeze-thaw cycling and unexpected freezer failures and is compatible with all purification kits, without the need for reagent removal.

DNA/RNA Shield has been rigorously tested for its ability to deactivate a wide range of pathogens, including MERS coronavirus, Ebola and M. tuberculosis, without the need for additional steps, such as heat-treatment, homogenisation or alcohol sterilisation. In an independent study, the virucidal activity was shown to inactivate murine parvovirus1. DNA/RNA Shield abides by the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) guidelines for pathogen inactivation2.
