Many gel and blot imaging systems suffer from limitations in their flexibility. To accurately detect and image a range of targets often requires several pieces of equipment which, individually, rarely get used to capacity.

Cambridge Bioscience introduces an imaging system for documenting and analysing DNA gels, protein gels and Western blots using UV, visible light, chemiluminescence and visible/infrared fluorescence. With a market leading range of visualisation capabilities, the Azure Biosystems c600 ultimate western system enables labs to replace transilluminators, gel imagers and darkrooms with one high performance, small, upgradeable and multi-functional instrument. The high quality images produced by the 8.3 MP camera give accurate quantification of both low and high concentration targets and are ideal for publication.

Broad spectrum of wavelengths visualised - Features dual band UV, EPI-blue & EPI-white light as well as chemiluminescent detection, visible & infrared fluorescence capabilities
High functional dynamic range - a sensitivity equivalent to film, with a higher dynamic range, ensures good images of both low & high abundance targets without saturation
Fast, high quality IR blot images obtained - Carefully selected infrared laser wavelengths provide excitation light much closer to standard dye peaks, improving fluorescence & reducing exposure time dramatically
No manual focusing - Regardless of the size of your gel, all images are in focus
No positioning required - No matter where you place the sample in the imager, the system will capture it
Crisp, publication quality images taken - Dual focus camera ensures images are always sharply focused & at 5.4 MP have sufficient resolution for publication & presentation
Internal imaging components optimised - Motorised, wide aperture lens combined with Peltier cooled CCD, 16 bit A/D conversion & optional pixel binning maximises image capture speed & sensitivity

Experimental
DNA imaged with minimal damage - Appropriate wavelength can be chosen with the dual band (302 nm and 365 nm) multiple-LED UV tray; longer wavelengths mean less damage• Multiple targets probed on a single blot - Up to three visible or two IR fluorescent channels can be used simultaneously, making co-migration or densitometry studies easy, saving time & reagents
Bands excised without leaving the imager- An override switch for the UV interlock, along with a roll out tray, turns the imaging system into a transilluminator at the touch of a button

Single, small footprint - Replace transilluminators, darkrooms & gel imagers with a single benchtop instrument
UV/laser exposure risks reduced - Safety interlocks disable the lasers & ultraviolet LEDs when the chamber door is opened
Existing protocol compatible - Compatible with a wide range of visible, UV responsive or fluorescent probes
Images taken when it’s convenient - The lifespan of fluorescent dyes means blots can be imaged & reimaged over weeks, with no appreciable loss of signal
Chemiluminescent imaging window extended - High CCD sensitivity & speed improves target detection even when signals are faint or fading
Analysis of images enhanced – Included software features background subtraction, automatic lane & band detection, & molecular weight or concentration determination. More information can be extracted from gels & blots.

AzureSpot Software
The c600 is provided with the AzureSpot software. Including a suite of analysis tools and a range of output options, this software offers many features including:
Digitally isolating lanes & bands
Automatic lane & band detection that even works on distorted gels
Identifying & quantifying targets
Molecular weight & concentration simply & accurately determined using defined standards & the in-software calibration
Compensating for various types of background
With a few clicks, background can be removed from quantifications
Exporting & transmitting data
Export images, reports & data to TIFF, JPEG, PDF or Excel. Transmit it via Wi-Fi, Ethernet & USB.
