A COMT inhibitor; prevents L-DOPA-induced dopaminergic neuron loss in primary rat rostral mesencephalic tegmentum cultures (EC50 = 0.1 µM); potentiates L-DOPA and carbidopa-induced reversal of reserpine-induced akinesias in rats and reserpine-induced catalepsy and hypothermia in mice at 30 mg/kg; reduces fibroid volume in the Eker rat model of uterine fibroids at 150 mg/kg
