An orally bioavailable, non-selective calcium channel blocker; blocks L- and T-type calcium channels in GH3 rat pituitary cancer cells (IC50s = 0.5 and 1.5 µg/ml, respectively); blocks carbachol- and A23187-stimulated calcium influx in CHO cells expressing human recombinant M5 receptors (IC50s = 935 and 359 nM, respectively); inhibits the growth of T. gondii in non-cancerous human fibroblasts and HeLa human cervical cancer cells (IC50 = 0.06 µg/ml for both); inhibits the growth of human FaDu and EVSCC17M squamous cell carcinoma cells (IC50s = 13 and 15 µM, respectively) and of HUVECs (IC50 = 1 µM); inhibits angiogenesis in a chicken chorioallantoic membrane assay in vivo at 20 µM
