Diacylglycerol kinase zeta (DGKZ) is an enzyme that belongs to the diacylglycerol kinase family, responsible for phosphorylating diacylglycerol (DAG) to produce phosphatidic acid (PA), a key lipid signaling molecule. DGKZ contains a conserved catalytic domain and is characterized by its ability to modulate intracellular signaling pathways, particularly those involving protein kinase C (PKC). By regulating DAG levels, DGKZ plays a crucial role in various cellular processes, including cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. Dysregulation of DGKZ has been implicated in several diseases, notably cancer; altered expression of DGKZ can affect tumor cell proliferation and survival.
