An ellagitannin with diverse biological activities; inhibits the SARS-CoV-2 spike RBD and ACE2 interaction (IC50 = 0.14 mg/ml); an inhibitor of carbonic anhydrase (IC50 = 1 µM); scavenges DPPH radicals and superoxide anions, as well as inhibits lipid peroxidation, in cell-free assays in a concentration-dependent manner; increases SOD and GPX activities, and decreases MDA levels, in the intestine in a mouse model of oxidative stress at 10 mg/kg per day
