An inhibitor of microtubule polymerization; binds to (Kd = 260 nM) and inhibits the polymerization of tubulin in a cell-free assay at 0.1 and 1 µM; induces cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase and apoptosis in KB-3-1 epidermoid carcinoma cells at 30 nM; inhibits cell growth in a panel of 18 tumor cell lines (mean IC50 = 2.5 nM); reduces tumor volume in various mouse xenograft models at 1.6 mg/kg
