Drug reference materials

Contact our specialistsCambridge Bioscience supplies the full range of drug reference materials from Cayman Chemical to licensed laboratories and qualified academic research institutions.

As a leader in the field of forensic chemistry and emerging drugs of abuse, Cayman Chemical manufactures a wide range of high-purity controlled substances and drug reference materials.

More than 2,000 forensic standards are available to identify, confirm, and quantify illicit opioids, cannabinoids, cathinones, amphetamines, phenethylamines, benzodiazepines, and other controlled substances. These standards are available as Certified Reference Materials (CRMs), Reference Materials (RMs)  and Analytical Standards with the CRMs and RMs being manufactured and characterised under both ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034.

Reference Material (RM)
Cayman Chemical forensics rangeCayman's Reference Materials (RMs) are fully characterised and their properties are tested under an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited quality system, making them ideal for direct use by labs requiring traceable standards.

Certified reference material (CRM)
Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) serve as Primary Standards as defined by ISO and are suitable for labs requiring traceable quantitative standards. A Certified Reference Material (CRM), as defined by ISO 17034:2016, must report the certified concentration and corrected purity values with the corresponding measurement uncertainties.

Analytical Standards
Cayman's Analytical Standards are formulated for use in analytical testing. They may be suitable for identification, analytical method validation and quantification, however analytical methods requiring quantification may require an assessment of suitability or in-house verification to meet lab specifications and accreditations.

Documentation
Each Reference Material (RM) and Certified Reference Material (CRM) from Cayman Chemical is provided with enhanced documentation with conforms to ISO standards for testing laboratories and Reference Material (RM) producers. Analytical Standards are accompanied by Cayman’s standardised product information.

  • Reference Materials (RMs) include a Confirmation of Analysis document which includes methods of analysis of the neat material, an estimate of uncertainty for each measurement, all relevant analytical data, and a stability assessment.
  • Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) include a Certificate of Analysis (CofA) that reports the certified concentration and corrected purity values with the corresponding measurement uncertainties, in addition to the methods used for the analysis of the neat material, an estimate of uncertainty for each measurement, all relevant analytical data, and a stability assessment.
  • Analytical Standards include a Certificate of Analysis (CofA) that reports identity, purity, and other relevant characteristics, displaying a minimum of two purity and two identity characterisation tests.

Products that fall within the drug reference material range may be considered a controlled substance. We will require confirmation that you possess the necessary UK Home Office license for us to be able to supply a controlled product. These products may also be subject to additional fees for the handling and processing of your order.
