Frozen human cord blood buffy coat

Cambridge Bioscience has partnered with Cells4Life to offer frozen human cord blood buffy coat from UK-based, HTA-licensed facilities for research purposes. With 99% of red cells removed, this frozen cord blood buffy coat contains a concentrated supply of total nucleated cells (TNCs) including CD34+ cells.

TNC and CD34 count
The TNC and CD34+ counts are assessed using anti-CD45 and anti-CD34+ staining by FACS, together with a cell viability dye post-thaw on an aliquot of the cord blood unit. An expected true viable TNC or CD34+ post-thaw count will be provided with each sample.

TotiCyte technology
Frozen cord blood buffy coat is isolated using novel, patented and CE marked reagent, TotiCyte, which retains 97 percent of haemopoietic stem cells post processing and at least 63 percent viability post-thaw. This results in 2.1 times more stem cells and three times more CD34+ cells recovered post-thaw than the current industry leading processing method.
