DNA from fecal and soil samples: Quick-DNA

The Quick-DNA™ Fecal/Soil Microbe kits are fecal and soil DNA extraction kits designed for the simple and rapid isolation of inhibitor-free, PCR-quality host cell and microbial DNA from a variety of sample sources including humans, birds, rats, mice, cattle, etc.

Fecal and soil DNA extraction with these kits is easy and can be completed in minutes: fecal samples are rapidly and efficiently lysed by bead beating with state of the art, ultra-high density BashingBeads. Zymo-Spin and Zymo MagBinding Bead technologies are then used to isolate the DNA in select fecal and soil DNA extraction kits. These fecal and soil DNA extraction kits feature Zymo Inhibitor Removal technology, which removes humic acids/polyphenols that can inhibit PCR.

State-of-the-art  BashingBeads  are  ideal  for  disrupting  tough-to-lyse  organisms  when  paired  with  bead  mills or  high speed cell disrupters.

Ultra-pure and inhibitor-free DNA

Real-time PCR was used to evaluate 10% or 35% of eluates recovered using the Quick-DNA Fecal/Soil Microbe kit or Supplier A kit to detect PCR inhibitors. Delayed amplification indicates PCR inhibition from inefficient inhibitor removal (n=8).

Higher yields of total DNA isolated from environmental samples using Quick-DNA kits

High-quality total DNA was isolated from environmental sample sources using the Quick-DNA Fecal/Soil Microbe kit and compared against other suppliers. Equivalent amounts of sample input were processed using each kit, then equal amounts of the eluted DNA was analysed on a 0.8% (w/v) agarose gel stained with EtBr. The Quick-DNA FecalSoil Microbe kit recovers high quality total DNA with greater yields compared to Supplier A and Supplier B.
