Custom multiplex immunohistochemistry kits: AtlasPlex

AtlasPlex™ is a streamlined, multiplex immunohistochemistry (IHC) solution designed to reveal more biology from every precious sample. AtlasPlex kits combine carefully selected antibodies with a streamlined detection workflow, helping you overcome common pain points in IHC: limited tissue availability, marker-to-marker variability, long optimisation cycles, and inconsistent results across runs and users. Whether you’re validating targets, profiling cell states, or mapping spatial biology, AtlasPlex enables robust, reproducible staining with minimal method development.

The AtlasPlex IHC kits provide a multiplex-ready workflow that enables the simultaneous detection of multiple protein markers on a single slide, using curated antibody panels built from high-quality, well-characterised Atlas Antibodies reagents. Each kit includes optimised buffers and detection reagents designed to minimise background and improve signal-to-noise, while remaining fully compatible with both manual and automated IHC platforms as well as common tissue fixatives such as FFPE. To support ease of use, a clear, step-by-step protocol is provided, including suggested antigen retrieval and incubation conditions. Stringent quality control ensures lot-to-lot consistency, and the inclusion of comprehensive controls and guidance enables confident interpretation of results. Flexible readout options are supported, with kits suitable for chromogenic (brightfield) and/or fluorescent imaging depending on the application.

Streamlined, step-by-step protocol

AtlasPlex workflow diagram

  • Smart complexing (1): biotinylated primary antibodies (Ab1) are pre-bound to HRP.
  • Targeted tissue binding (2): the Ab1-HRP complex is directly applied to fixed tissue
  • Amplification (3): tyramide-based signal amplification deposits a fluorescent signal at each target site
  • Enzyme quenching (4): deactivate HRP quickly and cleanly. This step replaces the need for harsh, tissue-damaging antibody stripping, removing interference in downstream rounds
  • Repeat: run multiple antibody cycles with only 1.5 hours per cycle.
  • Brilliant imaging (5): capture your results using standard fluorescence microscopy.

Advantages of the AtlasPlex range

  • More data per section: multiplexing conserves samples while increasing biological insight
  • Reduced optimisation time: matched reagents and panel design minimise trial-and-error
  • High specificity & sensitivity: antibodies selected from the Atlas portfolio for reliable target detection
  • Reproducible results: standardised conditions support cross-study and cross-site comparability
  • Scalable panels: start with essential markers and expand as questions evolve
  • Cost- and time-efficient: fewer slides, fewer runs, more answers
  • Seamless integration: works with existing microscopes, scanners, and image analysis tools
  • Expert documentation & support: practical guidance from assay setup to troubleshooting

Applications of AtlasPlex kits

  • Tumour microenvironment profiling (immune cell phenotyping, stromal markers, proliferation/apoptosis)
  • Neuroscience and developmental biology (cell-type mapping, pathway localisation)
  • Inflammation and fibrosis research (cytokine/chemokine axes, ECM components)
  • Biomarker validation for discovery and translational studies
  • Spatial biology workflows requiring co-localisation and cell-cell context
  • Quality control of model systems (organoids, xenografts, engineered tissues)
  • Method transfer & standardisation across labs and study sites
