The Quick-DNA™ high molecular weight (HMW) Magbead kit from Zymo Research simplifies HMW DNA extractions from any sample. DNA produced is high quality, up to 150 kb and optimised for long read sequencing (including Oxford Nanopore™ and PacBio SMRT™ sequencing). High purity DNA can be obtained even from challenging high biomass samples such as blood or faeces.

Longer DNA for longer read lengths
High Molecular Weight DNA. Cultured E. coli (~108 cells), Cultured L. monocytogenes (~1010 cells), 50 mg feces, and 75 µl ZymoBIOMICS® Microbial Community Standard (D6300) were input into the Quick-DNA™ HMW MagBead kit (n=2). Length of the highest detectedpeak were recorded and averaged for each sample. DNA size was analysed using Aligent’s Femto Pulse system.
Ultra-Pure. 200 µl human blood, 50 mg feces, 25 mg mouse gut, and 75 µl ZymoBIOMICS Microbial Community Standard (D6300) were input into the Quick-DNA HMW MagBead and Supplier Q kits (n=2). Zymo Research consistently had higher purities (A260/230: >1.8) and comparable DNA recovery (µg).Absorbance A260/230, and total DNA recovery (µg) were quantified by NanoDrop™ 2000.
ZymoBIOMICS HMW DNA Standard
The ZymoBIOMICS High Molecular Weight (HMW) DNA Standard consists of 7 bacterial strains (3 gram-negative and 4 gram-positive) and 1 yeast, providing a solution for assessing performance of information-rich 3rd generation sequencing and metagenomic measurements (e.g. Oxford Nanopore™ & PacBio™). All current microbial standards contain fragmented DNA, typically due to mechanical homogenisation-based DNA extraction. However, the ZymoBIOMICS HMW standard offers intact, >50 kb DNA to enable nucleotide reading at the single molecule level as required by 3rd generation sequencing. Find out more.
