Displays several functions associated with host defense: it promotes agglutination, bacterial capsular swelling, phagocytosis and complement fixation through its calcium-dependent binding to phosphorylcholine. Can interact with DNA and histones and may scavenge nuclear material released from damaged circulating cells. BioVision’s CRP ELISA kit is a sandwich ELISA assay for the quantitative measurement of human C-Reactive Protein in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatants. The density of color is proportional to the amount of human CRP captured from the samples.
