A phenol with diverse biological activities; inhibits LPS- and IFN-γ-induced migration and production of ROS in BV-2 microglia at 10 and 30 µM; inhibits compound 48/80-induced histamine release from rat peritoneal mast cells; reduces mortality in a mouse model of compound 48/80-induced anaphylactic shock at 0.5 mg/animal; reduces hepatic necrosis and serum levels of ALT and AST in a mouse model of acetaminophen-induced hepatotoxicity at 100 mg/kg; inhibits carrageenan-induced thermal hyperalgesia and production of NO and PGE2 in rats at 30, 50, and 100 mg/kg
