Viromer® ONE RED GFP Controls

Viromer® ONE RED GFP controls are designed for testing the transfection efficiencies or efficacies of pDNA in comparison to mRNA as sources for overexpression studies. The lyophilized material comes as a vial with a GFP pDNA and a second vial which contains a GFP mRNA - both already complexed to Viromer® RED. You just need to rehydrate them with the provided buffer and test 3 different conditions to know if mRNA would be a better source for your overexpression studies. It turned out that in many cases like with monocytes and macrophages the huge DNase activity in the cytosol of these cells is the biggest problem with the observation of low transfection efficacies. Switch to mRNA transfection for better results in hard-to-transfect cells! What’s Viromer®? Not a virus. Not a simple polymer. As a synthetic copy of the Influenza virus machinery, Viromer® particles emulate an active endosomal escape through a hydrophobic shift when the pH decreases. It leads to a highly efficient delivery of the payload into the cytosol. What make Viromer® different from other transfection reagents? The complexes formed by Viromer® are quasi-neutral in charge which means the transfection is possible in all cell culture media, with serum and antibiotics. Compared to lipid-based reagents it shows a reduced toxicity and no interaction with the cell physiology. While the endosome escape is often limited with other reagents, challenging cells like primary or stem cells are amenable to transfection by using Viromer®!
