Product Description:
The research-grade biosimilar antibody is a recombinant humanized IgG1 kappa monoclonal without an Fc fragment. This antibody binds to the receptor-binding site of vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) and inhibits binding with its receptors (VEGFR1 and VEGFR2). This prevents VEGF-mediated proliferation and migration of endothelial cells and angiogenesis. The original drug received FDA approval in 2006 for the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration. The drug has also been approved to treat macular edema following retinal vein occlusion, diabetic macular edema, and diabetic retinopathy.
