Primary human hepatocytes cultured in thin hydrogels (1 mm, 4 mg/mL) of TissueSpec® Liver matrix, Matrigel, and collagen I showed significantly higher (a) expression of LDL receptor and (b) secretion of fibrinogen (p<0.05) in TissueSpec® Liver ECM Hydrogel compared to hepatocytes cultured in Matrigel and collagen I.

Primary normal human bronchial epithelial (NHBE) cells were cultured on thin layers of TissueSpec® Lung ECM Hydrogel or Matrigel for 10 days. TissueSpec® Lung ECM Hydrogel supported (a,b) robust expression of normal lung epithelial cell markersand (c,d) significantly larger subpopulation of p63+ basal airway cells (p<0.05) compared to Matrigel.
