CF™640R: A Highly Photostable Far-Red Dye

CF™640R: A Highly Photostable Far-Red Dye

Cambridge Bioscience offers a rhodamine-based far-red fluorescent dye which is much brighter than Cy™5, at least as bright as Alexa Fluor® 647 and with better photostability over Cy™5 and Alexa Fluor® 647. CF™640R is also much brighter and more photostable than Atto™ 647N, another spectrally similar dye frequently used in single-molecule imaging. These features combined make CF™640R ideal for confocal microscopy, single-molecule imaging & other demanding applications.

CF™640R Technical Details
• 642/662 nm Abs/Em Maxima
• 105,000 Extinction Coefficient
• ~ 832 Molecular Weight
• 633 nm, 635 nm or 640 nm Excitation Laser Line
• Direct Replacement For Alexa Fluor® 647, ATTO™ 647N, Cy™5 & DyLight™649

Benefits Of Using CF™640R
• Brighter than Cy™5
• Better photostability than Cy™5 and Alexa Fluor® 647

Brightness Comparison

Intracellular staining of Jurkat cells was performed using mouse anti-CD3 or isotype control followed by goat anti-mouse IgG conjugates. Fluorescence was analysed on a BD FACSCalibur flow cytometer in the FL4 channel. Bars represent the relative fluorescence of the geometric means of the cell populations.
Photostability comparison between CF™640R and Alexa Fluor® 647 (AF647). HeLa cells were stained with anti-tubulin antibody conjugates of CF™640R or Alexa Fluor® 647 (AF647). Cells were continuously illuminated by a mercury arc lamp microscope and sequential images were captured at 0, 1, and 3 minutes.
