Many assay kits from Cayman Chemical use acetylcholinesterase (AChE) as the enzymatic label and this has several advantages over other commonly used labels.

Low Background: Non-enzymatic hydrolysis of ACh in buffer is effectively absent leading to an increased signal to noise ratio when compared to substrates such as TMB.

High Sensitivity: AChE has a high turnover rate, increasing dynamic range and providing greater sensitivity, surpassing most other immunoassays.

Stability: AChE is a completely stable enzyme.

ROS commonly refers to superoxide anions, hydrogen peroxide, hypohalous acid and hydroxyl radicals and may lead to the oxidative damage of virtually any molecule. Under normal conditions ROS are cleared from the cell by catalase, glutathione peroxidase (GSH), or superoxide dimutase (SOD).
