Manual Patch Clamp
Conventional manual patch clamp assays are the gold standard of accuracy and versatility in the assessment of drug interactions with ion channels. Both mixed channel screens and quantitative IC50 assays are offered using this platform in GLP and non-GLP formats. IC50 concentration-response assays provide important benchmarks for structure-activity evaluation. Mixed channel screens test compounds within structural or therapeutic groups against one or more ion channels.
QPatch HT & PatchXpress®
The PatchXpress® 7000A and QPatch HT platforms are used for the FASTPatch® automated patch clamp screening service. This fully validated service offers high sensitivity testing, producing up to hundreds of data points per day and is ideal for IC50s, use-dependence and on-off drug multi-concentration screening.
IonWorks Barracuda™
The IonWorks Barracuda™ platform is the latest in population patch clamp technology screening producing over 10,000 data points per day. This platform is used for the ScreenPatch® automated screening service and offers greater flexibility in measuring voltage-gated and ligand-gated ion channels at much higher throughputs than classical automated platforms.
IonWorks Quattro™
The IonWorks Quattro™ platform is used for the ScreenPatch® automated patch clamp screening service. This service offers fast screens and IC50 profiles producing up to 2,000 data points per day.
FlexStation® 3
The FlexStation® 3 uses both fluorescence and luminescence to measure GPCR-mediated calcium influx and ion channel membrane potential changes. This platform is capable of generating up to 5,000 points per day and is ideal for the primary screening of compounds for membrane potentials, intracellular calcium, potassium (thallium) flux and re-screening.
FLIPRTETRA®
The FLIPRTETRA® uses both adherent and non-adherent cell lines producing up to 10,000 points per day. This platform is ideal for the primary screening of compounds for membrane potentials, intracellular calcium, potassium (thallium) flux and re-screening.
FDSS6000
The FDSS6000 is a high throughput fluorescent and luminescent-based platform that can be used to measure GPCR calcium influx and ion channel membrane potential changes. This platform is ideal for the primary screening of GPCRs and ion channels.
Radioligand Binding Assays
Membrane binding assays, whilst not providing functional information, are still used in primary screening to identify Hits in large GPCR and ion channel screening campaigns. HT radioligand binding assays are offered in collaboration with an external partner specialising in radiolabel binding.
