Oxidative Lipid Damage

Oxidative stress leads to peroxidation and truncation of PUFAs (polyunsaturated fatty acids) on cell membranes, leading to externalised projections which can be identified by receptors on macrophages and other immune system cells, leading to phagocytosis.
