Isotype Controls
Isotype control antibodies are used to distinguish between non-specific ("background") staining and specific primary antibody staining. Background staining can be due to non-specific protein interactions with cell components, autofluorescence or binding of primary antibody to Fc receptors. Isotype controls must match the specific primary antibody being used in terms of species and isotype. Cambridge Bioscience offers a wide portfolio of these controls.
