COX Assays
Cyclooxygenase (COX) is a central enzyme in the prostaglandin biosynthetic pathway. The enzyme is responsible for the conversion of arachidonic acid into prostaglandin H2 (PGH2), the precursor of prostaglandins, thromboxanes and prostacyclins. There are two isoforms of this enzyme: COX-1 and COX-2, with differing associated expression patterns. COX-1 is expressed constitutively in a variety of cell types, whereas COX-2 by contrast is expressed during the acute inflammatory state.
Cambridge Bioscience offers colourimetric and fluorometric activity and inhibitor screening kits to quantify peroxidase activity or inhibition of COX-1 and COX-2 in crude cell lysates, tissue homogenates and purified enzyme preparations. We also offer a range of COX antibodies and inhibitors.
