Over-dependence on the hERG assay as a preclinical cardiac risk indicator can terminate development of potentially useful compounds that non-selectively block hERG and other compensatory channels. Conversely, some compounds may pose a safety risk by prolonging repolarization via interactions with non-hERG cardiac channels.

Utilising the PatchXpress® 7000A, QPatch (FASTPatch® Assay) or IonWorks® Quattro™/Barracuda™ (ScreenPatch® Assay), these assays enable the screening of cardiac toxicity and selective profiling of cardiac ion channels using either automated or manual patch clamp platforms.
