Assay Development Services

Our assay development team have extensive immunoassay development experience gained through greater than 15 years of developing commercial assays for a wide range of analytes, from small molecules to large proteins and their various post-translational modifications.

This experience includes a range of formats including immunoassays and enzymatic assays with detection systems utilising colourimetric, fluorescent, chemiluminescent and fluorescence polarisation methods.

Our team will characterise and validate your assay based upon fit-for-purpose validation criteria for your specific application in animal or human biological matrices.

HRP Chemiluminescent Substrates

BioFX Laboratories offers five unique HRP chemiluminescent substrates to meet all your sensitivity requirements for both microwell and membrane applications.

These two component formulations are characterised by varying lengths of light emission and intensity and achieve a 100-fold improvement in signal-to-noise ratio over existing luminol formulations. Luminol is a versatile chemical that exhibits chemiluminescence (a striking blue glow) when mixed with an appropriate oxidizing agent.

Light is produced only while the enzyme (HRP) and substrate reaction is occurring. This is in contrast to colorimetric substrates, where a stable color is produced and the resulting precipitates remain on the membrane, even after the enzyme-substrate reaction has completed.

For Western blotting, chemiluminescent substrates offer a number of advantages over colorimetric substrates. With greater sensitivity than any other available detection method, chemiluminescence allows the ability to visualise protein bands at low detection limits.
