MetaPath™ arrays are built on the well-established sandwich ELISA concept. Multiplex arrays extend this concept to very high-throughput by spotting the capture antibodies in arrays on the bottom of 96-well plates. Detector antibodies with enzyme-linked tags are then added in one solution, and the relative amount of each target is read by an imager.

Fatty Acid Metabolism Kits

Adiponectin Antibodies

Adiponectin is a protein hormone secreted exclusively by adipocytes that regulates the metabolism of lipids and glucose. Adiponectin has been shown to play a role in various physiological processes including homeostasis and obesity. Decreased levels of adiponectin are associated with obese individuals as well as insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia (type 2 diabetes). In mice adiponectin has been shown to improve insulin signaling, thus ameliorating insulin resistance. Through activation of AMP kinase and PPAR-alpha, adiponectin can increase fatty acid transport, oxidation, and dissipation in skeletal muscle, leading to a reduction of intramyocellular lipid levels and thus improved insulin signaling.

Adipocyte Related Products

Adiponectin is a serum protein produced and secreted exclusively by adipose tissues. Unlike insulin and leptin, adiponectin levels in plasma remain constant throughout the day and are not acutely affected by food intake.

Resistin face is another hormone secreted by adipocytes that acts on skeletal muscle myocytes, hepatocytes, and adipocytes themselves, where it is suggested to reduce insulin sensitivity leading to type 2 diabetes.

Leptin is the protein product of ob gene in mice and is involved in appetite Visfatinis considered a new member of the adipokine family. It is highly expressed in visceral fat and whose blood levels correlate with obesity.
