Alzheimer’s is a disease that presently affects over five million people, a number that is expected to quadruple over the next fifteen years. Cerebrovascular deposition of beta amyloid protein is a common pathologic event in Alzheimer’s disease and certain related neurodegenerative disorders, and there is compelling evidence that the c-terminal cleavage point of beta amyloid determines the aggregation potential of the peptide.
