Phalloidins

Phalloidins

Phalloidin belongs to a group of toxins known collectively as the phallotoxins, isolated from the death cap fungus (Amanita phalloides). Phalloidin's toxic effect results from it binding to F-actin polymers with a high affinity, stabilising and consequently trapping them in the polymerised form. Phalloidin’s high binding affinity and specificity to F-actin makes it ideal for imaging by ensuring a high signal to background ratio. F-actin across a broad range of species from plants to animals can be labelled by phalloidins.

Cambridge Bioscience offers a range of biotin and fluorochrome labelled phalloidins. This range includes phalloidins labelled with CF™ dyes. These dyes rival or exceed the brightness of other commercially available dyes spanning the UV to near-IR regions of the EM spectrum. To find out more about the CF™ dyes, please Click Here
