Defined, Animal Component-Free Serum Replacement - XerumFree™

For more than half a century, cells have been cultured using the animal-origin derived growth supplement, fetal bovine serum (FBS). However, FBS has been known to have wide lot-lot variability and contain hormones, growth factors and serum compounds potentially causing research bias. We are delighted to bring a brand new concept in the field of cell culture to the market: the culture of cells without the use of serum and without any animal-derived components.

Cambridge Bioscience offers a fully defined, GMP grade, animal component-free serum replacement called XerumFree™ from TNC BIO BV.

XerumFree™ is a chemically defined, animal component-free serum replacement that has been developed taking into account what is missing in the existing basal cell culture media. Due to its chemically-defined nature, there is no lot-to-lot variations eliminating the need for the testing of individual batches and contains no hormones, growth factors or serum compounds that can cause research bias. XerumFree™ is suitable for use with human, mammalian, stem and insect cells.
